Tips to Prepare for Remote Learning at Home
Connect with the school
Schools have worked hard to figure out how to teach students the best online. Educators received lots of training to prepare teachers to teach online. Part of this training should include how to engage with families during remote learning.
Provide your updated contact information to the school. Additionally, sign up for their email distribution list to get updates. You will also want to follow the school social media pages to follow those pages to get updates.
Now more than ever schools are regularly communicating information about the school year. Remote learning information is sent via email, social media, or on a telephone call. Don’t forget to regularly check social media to see updates.
Organize incoming Emails
You might feel overwhelmed about the many emails you’ll receive from multiple educators. This is even worst when you have more than one child. Consider setting up email folders in your email account to organize emails for each child.
This can be done by creating rules in your email account to organize emails in designated folders. As a result, this will remove the guessing out of whose teacher said/needs what. Additionally, it makes it easier to refer to as necessary.
Set a Remote Learning Routine
Remote learning comes with many unknowns. Setting up a routine helps kids feel that they are in control of their learning. Without a routine, kids feel uncertainty in the learning progress.
